What will your
new build cost?
Ballpark a ground-up custom home budget using DFW-market cost-per-square-foot ranges, before you talk to a builder. Add your land cost and a contingency to see an all-in range.
Estimate covers 500–15,000 sq ft; values outside that range are clamped to the nearest bound.
Where the budget goes.
Builder-grade to mid-grade fixtures, cabinetry, and flooring throughout.
Planning estimate only, not a bid or contract price. Actual cost depends on lot conditions, plan complexity, material selections, and current material and labor pricing.
Standard finish-out custom builds in DFW typically run about $140–$180 per square foot, premium finishes $180–$230, and luxury/custom finishes $230–$320, before land cost and contingency.
It is a useful starting point for planning, but final cost also depends on lot conditions (grading, soil, utility runs), plan complexity, and current material and labor pricing — a written bid from a builder is the only reliable number.
Most DFW builders and lenders recommend a 10–15% contingency above the construction estimate to cover selections upgrades, unforeseen site conditions, and change orders.
